Vince Gill, a country music legend with over 20 albums and the most Grammy wins for a male country singer, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007. He first gained attention with the band Pure Prairie League in 1979 and has remained a beloved performer for over four decades.
A devout Christian, Gill has increasingly included gospel music in his shows. Recently, he was invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, but was told not to sing about Jesus.
Defying the request, Gill chose to perform “Why Me Lord” by Kris Kristofferson—a gospel classic also covered by Elvis and Johnny Cash. His heartfelt rendition earned a standing ovation, proving that the emotion behind the music mattered more than the message.
