Nationwide Manhunt After Tragic Murder of Three Sisters
A devastating tragedy has gripped Washington State and the nation: three young sisters — Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia Decker, 5 — were found murdered at a remote campsite after a routine visitation with their father, 32-year-old Travis Decker.
Authorities believe Decker, a military veteran with mental health issues, suffocated the girls during a court-approved visit. He remains at large and is considered dangerous.
Their mother, Whitney, had raised concerns about his instability and unsafe conditions during visits. Despite this, she never imagined he would harm them.
The girls’ bodies were discovered near Decker’s abandoned truck at Rock Island Campground. Each had plastic bags over their heads and zip ties on their wrists — a horrific scene that’s sparked national outrage.
Decker has been charged with three counts of aggravated first-degree murder and kidnapping. A multi-agency manhunt is underway, including the FBI and U.S. Marshals. Authorities urge the public not to approach him.
A vigil in Wenatchee drew hundreds, mourning the loss of “three bright lights.” A GoFundMe for the family has surpassed $350,000.
As the search continues, Whitney’s plea echoes: “I tried everything to protect them.”
