Sarah’s new marriage unravels when her husband, Jake, accuses her of infidelity after claiming he smells cologne in their bedroom. Hurt and confused, Sarah searches for the truth, which is far from what Jake expects.
Just two weeks into their marriage, Jake rushes to his mother’s side after she’s injured in a car accident. While he’s away, Sarah tries to stay supportive. Days later, Jake returns home early and accuses Sarah of cheating, pointing to a “man’s cologne” smell in their bedroom. Sarah denies it, but Jake grows suspicious, even changing the locks on their apartment.
Sarah, unable to reach Jake, seeks help from his brother, Nick, who cruelly suggests Sarah has cheated. Jake then accuses her of infidelity over text, claiming she brought another man into their bed. His mother demands Sarah return her expensive engagement ring, and Jake tells her their marriage is over.
Devastated, Sarah spends the night piecing together the situation. She realizes the “cologne” smell was actually lemon-cedarwood wipes she’d used to mask the smell of fish from dinner—something Jake dislikes.
The next morning, Jake arrives at Sarah’s mother’s house, apologizing tearfully for his harsh accusations. Although she considers reconciling, Sarah can’t forget how quickly Jake and his family turned against her. The betrayal, fueled by a simple misunderstanding, leads Sarah to pack her things and leave. Jake’s repeated apologies aren’t enough, and she decides to go back to her mom’s for space.
In the end, Sarah learns a painful lesson: true love doesn’t turn on you that quickly.
